Events Around Chautauqua County

Events are easy to find around here. It doesn't matter if it

spring, summer, fall or winter, there is always plenty to do here.

As the Fall months approach, the festivals and farmers markets

will be busy places as visitors stock up on their favorite

things.

Wineries will keep visitors occupied as the harvest season begins.

State Parks and local sporting events provide several opportunities for people to stay busy and enjoy

there weekends or their afternoons.

While Fall Festivals are plentiful around the area in the Autumn months the winter months bring all new activities and things to do.

Westfield Women's Organization Holly Tour

The Village of Westfield is a great place to visit for the Holly

Tour and the Christmas Craft Show held each year in November.

The Westfield Women's Organization sponsor's the popular Holly

Tour each year. Hundreds of visitors come to tour various homes

throughout the village chosen to be part of the tour. The

homes are decorated for Christmas by area businesses or by the

owners themselves and the tourists then see unique homeowner

collections, beautifully decorated rooms, trees, fireplaces,

outdoor decorations and feel Christmas come alive. Another stop

on the tour is a decorated area Church where the tourists sit

and visit while enjoying pie and coffee or juice.

I have been on the tour several times throughout the past

several years. Favorites of mine includes seeing a Tin Soldier

Collection from all over the world and and antiques doll

collection. Each year I go home with several new ideas too on

ways to decorate my own home.

The 2008 Holly Tour is scheduled for Sunday November 23rd.

One of the most popular scheduled events in the winter is the

Westfield Christmas Craft Show

The Christmas Craft Show is held in the village each year usually at the Exempt fire hall on Bourne Street. Many vendors display their items. Many home made gifts can be purchased if shopping for Christmas items. A soup luncheon is also available. This event is held on the same weekend as the Holly Tour.

Christmas Craft Show 2008 is scheduled for November Ice Castle Extravaganza. Several people come from all over to see the Ice Castle which turns out beautifully if Chautauqua Lake is frozen.
